Monticello is located
in central illinois about half way between Decatur and Champaign. The glider
club is based at the Piatt County Airport (K2K0).

Piatt County Airport (K2K0)
Piatt county airport
is a public airport offering fuel and services. It has
a relatively smooth grass strip runway 2800 x 100 oriented North/South.
Runway lights are radio operated and it has a lighted wind sock.
It's elevation is 740 ft MSL. There is a published instrument approach,
a VOR A, controlled by Champaign Approach Control.

Our answering machine should have information describing the days activity.
When you arrive at the airport, our hanger will be easy to find. We may not
be in the hanger though... we usually set up operations out on the field
taxi-way. Don't be shy, come out and say hello.
Visitor Safety
Crossing the runway...
The airport parking and roadway out to the hanger are located at the north
end of the runway. Stop at the fence and look both ways before proceeding
down the roadway to the hanger. When walking out to our operations area on
the field, cross the runway perpendicular to the runway (shortest path) and
then walk along the crop field on the east side. Again, look both ways before
crossing the runway ! Gliders are relatively silent and you don't want one
sneaking up on you unexpectedly.
